Build a repeatable plan with a restart option
1. Choose one action with a visible finish
Choose an action with a visible start and finish, such as checking one item needed tomorrow, instead of “improve every day.” This guide sets no habit-formation deadline or success rate. It prepares repeatable conditions and a decision for the next opportunity after a missed day.
2. Worked example: reading after work
Suppose reading is planned for 20:30–20:50, but Tuesday’s arrival home is 21:00. Copying the same plan across the week makes Tuesday impossible from the start. Exclude that day or move the activity to a genuine gap. Twenty minutes is an example duration, not a proven minimum dose.
3. Distinguish the normal plan from a smaller option
Use the original slot when it fits. For a constrained day, a smaller action might be marking the next page to read. Do not count it as the same amount of reading or equivalent benefit. Recording a decision not to do the activity is also valid.
4. Put only feasible dates into the app
Place the activity only on dates compatible with fixed commitments and check its boundaries in table view. Record what happened: completed, skipped because of travel, or marked the next page. Do not mark an unperformed activity complete to maintain a streak.
5. Decide what follows a missed day
Choose whether to return at the next feasible date or revise the slot. Do not automatically double the task to make up for a miss. If one weekday repeatedly fails, examine its conflicts first and restart with a plan that excludes it if necessary.
